For convenience, here are a few mapping options to help you find our show.

Map

There's plenty of parking at the hotel for $5 a day. For those staying overnight, parking is $9 and includes in and out priviledges.

Take a ticket at the parking gate, pay at the hotel desk, then use your payment validation to exit the parking lot.

There is also street parking.

Public Transport

The Beverly Garland Holiday Inn is just 1 mile from Universal Studios/CityWalk.

The Metro Red Line stops on Lankershim at the Universal City station, across from Universal Studios. Our hotel has a free shuttle from Universal to the hotel. We'll soon post the exact details of where you catch that shuttle. (A call may be necessary.) (Note: the Metro map linked above is not to scale: Highland is not east of Western.)

There are buses that stop at the Universal City bus stop. Details here soon.

The MTA Metro Trip Planner on the MTA's home page can help you find your way.

Note: The ads are here with the hope they'll provide more info on shuttle and limo services or about things your family can do in the area. They appear not to be doing this — please bear with this experiment.

Airport Info

The two best airports:

  • LAX hosting many airlines
    • You can take the free Lot C Shuttle bus from LAX to the Metro Rail Green Line (Aviation Station), but 5 or 6 stops later you need to switch to the Blue Line going north, then 10 stops later transfer to the Red Line and get off at Universal City station. (Then use the hotel's free shuttle.) The MTA planner does not come up with this though — I planned it from maps — so check before you try it.
    • SuperShuttle (800-554-3146)
    • PrimeTime Shuttle (800-RED VANS) — online form says $21 shared van, $83.94 for private van up to 7 passengers, or $83.95 for a Luxury Sedan for up to 3 passengers. (Note that they say the rate is better when you reserve online.) Travel time is about 1.5 hours.
  • Burbank's Bob Hope airport (BUR) — hosting Alaska Airlines, Aloha, American, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, and United
    • Metro Bus 96 (Sherman Oaks) heading south for $4.50. Trip time is about 43 minutes. Distance is 7.82 miles.
    • SuperShuttle (800-554-3146)
    • PrimeTime Shuttle (800-RED VANS) — online form says $14 shared van, $62.10 for private van up to 7 passengers, or $62.10 for a Luxury Sedan for up to 3 passengers. (Note: they say the rate is better when you reserve online.) Travel time about 1 hour.

    Food

Tula, the hotel's own restaurant, is just steps away from the exhibit hall.

We'll either have a lunch buffet — just $8.95 including a standard beverage or menu selections that will provide great food, quickly, with comparable cost.

If you prefer to eat off-site, you'll find several eateries within a few miles in each direction.

    Tula is open from 6am - 11pm.

Splash, the hotel's award-winning bar, is also right there. It's a great place to hang out at in the evening, spending social time with fellow attendees and perhaps our vendors and speakers. Splash is open from 6am - 11pm.

    (Sorry, no Coffee Patio yet.)

    Hotel

After checking the online travel discounters, we arrived at an excellent price. For just $105 (+ tax), spend the night on-site, sharing your room with up to 4 adults. This price is for rooms with 1 king or 2 queen beds.

Along with each hotel night, you get one free 2-Day Seminar pass! (One per night, not one per room occupant. ) If you stay 2 nights with 2 people, that's 2 passes. Book the room by calling Laura 818-255-7491 and saying it's for the Mac Gathering (code MAC). Then send us your confirmation number and contact info.
